Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that defies conventional expectations, the game developer has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Uncovered
According to the official statement, "An unusual meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of prohibited rituals and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The narrative presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine cult.
The adventure focuses on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Changes
The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Bonus Material
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana together with numerous objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This release also brings the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
